Director’s philosophy
The climate change and greenhouse effect in recent years has made the world understand that environmental protection demands immediate attention. After the Kyoto Protocol became effective on February 16, 2005, environmental protection became a concern in the world.
Tainan City is a city with humanism and the fruitful cultural assets of Taiwan. With the remarkable leadership of the Mayor and city governmental taskforces’ efforts, Tainan City has become a beautiful city with co-existing traditional and modern cultures, and was also listed as the “international healthy city”. A beautiful city must present clean appearance, fresh air, pure water and scenic land. In addition to the efforts of Environmental Protection Bureau, the support from all social sectors and citizens are also required to fulfill this end.
All staff of this Bureau will spare no efforts to promote the environmental protection tasks perpetually, to achieve the goal of “Technological, Culture and Ecological” international city set by Tainan City Government.

1.	Promoting refuse disposal plans on an on-going basis, and feeding back to communities to maintain relations with neighbors
2.	Promoting refuse classification and zero waste plans to establish a new model city of implementing a decrease in refuse, recycling and kitchen waste
3.	Strengthening cleaning work in the city and improving the way to clean and collect refuse, to help citizens and achieve the end of efficiency.
4.	Promoting the national environmental protection plan on an on-going basis, and proceeding with the renovation of soil in petrifaction yard and underground water pollution, to upgrade the environmental quality
5.	Promote the national environmental protection new life movement, such as “chopsticks for environmental protection”, “walking chained dogs and cleaning dog droppings immediately”, and “central incineration of ghost money”, to build a healthy city. Additionally, even citizens’ petty concerns are still the major concerns of this Bureau. This Bureau will make every endeavor resolve the citizens’ environmental protection problems and upgrade the citizens’ satisfaction. A qualified living environment and beautiful city are the common targets to be achieved by all citizens. This Bureau hereby calls on all citizens to work out together, and all of us can recover the original presence of our homeland with beautiful mountains, blue sky and fresh rivers someday.
6.	Establishing the public bicycle and reducing carbon dioxide caused from cars and motorcycles improve the air quality and show up the request of health, vitality and fashion.
7.	Promoting the policy of anti-idling, reducing carbon dioxide and saving energy resist the global warming synchronously.
8.	Creating the system of alliance consisted of Tainan District Prosecutors Office, environmental groups, polices and governmental organizations, build up mechanisms like united inspection, training course and symposium for striking the environmental crime.
